A Coming Together across Cultures under the Malvern Hills – Due to the success of this project there are no longer any tickets available for the finale on September 21st.
September 21 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
This Community project, for which we received a grant from the Home Office, has been a huge success. It has been attended by a mixture of children and adults from Malvern,
Over four Saturday mornings of workshops it has been wonderful to see the children all smiling and looking so happy and so fully engaged in the drama workshop. Their confidence has grown visibly.
They have made some stunning masks and puppets and the tender care which the youngsters put into their creations is most impressive. It is so lovely to see how proud they are of what they have created –and even more wonderful to see the proud faces of the parents.
They always ask as they are leaving, when the next session will be.
At the same time, the sessions for adults have been most enjoyable. Activities have included a knitting lesson and discussions about cultural differences and other topics. As one would expect, the most animated discussions have been about food!
There have been many unplanned results from the mornings. For example, the women were delighted to meet someone who has a vine and can provide much-needed and missed vine leaves!
Friendships have been made and the Syrian and Iraqi families tell us how much they value being welcomed and made to feel part of the Malvern Community.
We thank Lansdowne Methodist Church for hosting the event.
